Biography

Tom is a corporate solicitor of just under 20 years’ experience. He is a corporate governance specialist with deep experience of assessing an organisation’s governance requirements and advising on their practical application.

Tom trained at a Magic Circle firm and was previously a Senior Associate at a top-15 UK firm, dealing with all aspects of corporate law, particularly private M&A. He led its UK company secretarial team. Most recently, he co-led the governance team (UK) for the consulting arm of a major accountancy/audit firm giving him a uniquely commercial understanding of corporate ventures.

Tom is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (formerly ICSA) and a CGI-accredited board performance reviewer. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, the Chartered Management Institute and the Royal Society of Arts.

Tom has an MBA and post-graduate degrees in law and business. An experienced leader, his MBA focussed on organisational knowledge capture and the contribution of governance processes and frameworks to organisational achievement. He is currently working on a Doctorate of Business Administration which addresses the intersection of governance and strategy.

Outside work, Tom is a keen writer. His debut poetry collection, The Adept, is available from Cinnamon Press. His most recent book, Being a Trainee Solicitor: How to Survive and Thrive was published by Bath Publishing in 2025 and is available in all good bookshops.
