Position Overview:

As a Receptionist/Administrator with Legal Secretary Duties, you will be at the forefront of our office operations, serving as the first point of contact for clients and visitors. You will play a crucial role in creating a positive and professional impression of our firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receptionist Duties:
  • Greeting clients and visitors with a warm and friendly demeanour.
  • Answering incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate team members, and taking messages when necessary.
  • Managing the reception area, ensuring it is neat and welcoming.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Maintaining office supplies and inventory.
  1. Administrative Support:
  • Providing administrative assistance as needed.
  • Assisting with data entry, document preparation, and filing.
  • Coordinating appointments and meetings.
  • Managing office calendars and schedules.
  • Handling general office correspondence and email enquiries.
  1. Legal Secretary Tasks

Working predominantly within our Wills and Probate department:

  • Transcribing correspondence and documents.
  • Assisting fee earners with document preparation and formatting predominantly in our Wills and Probate department.
  • Organising and maintaining legal files and documents.
  • Proofreading legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
  1. Client Interaction:
  • Ensuring exceptional client service by addressing enquiries and requests promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinating client meetings and appointments with fee earners.
  1. Office Organisation:
  • Ensuring the office is well-organised and efficient.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to maintain a clean and tidy workspace.
  • Assisting with office events and meetings.

Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Receptionist or Administrative Assistant.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in typing at speed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Previous experience in a legal environment or as a legal secretary is a plus.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Litigation/Dispute Resolution Department – Associate Director. As a small but dynamic firm, we are looking for a candidate who can play a pivotal role in growing the team whilst also ensuring our clients receive the first-class service they are used to. For our successful candidate, there is an expectation that in the mid-term a directorship position and shareholding will be available.

Key Responsibilities:

Department Leadership:

  • Lead, manage and grow the Dispute Resolution Department.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, strategies, and initiatives to drive growth and excellence.
  • Provide mentorship and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Dispute Resolution and Litigation:

  • Handle complex dispute resolution cases, including negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation.
  • Develop and execute effective legal strategies to represent clients’ interests in various disputes.
  • Ensure the timely and cost-effective resolution of cases while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
  • Manage invoicing and collecting bad-debts for yourself and supporting your team also.

Client Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering exceptional legal services and demonstrating a deep understanding of their unique needs and objectives.
  • Work closely with clients to identify potential disputes and provide proactive legal advice.

Business Development:

  • Identify opportunities for business growth and lead efforts to acquire new clients.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network within the legal community and related industries.

Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in dispute resolution and litigation.
  • Previous leadership or management experience, preferably within a law firm.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Business acumen and a strategic mindset.
  • Expertise in employment law, with a proven track record of handling employment-related cases is preferable but not essential.
  • Strong IT literacy and experience of using case management systems

Commercial Property Solicitor 5+ years PQE based in Solihull

Our commercial property team is expanding and we would love to welcome new members to the team looking to for career progression and development gaining experience in every aspect of commercial property law. We pride ourselves on our reputation which sees clients returning again and again for the personal and independent advice that we have become known for.

We are looking for someone who thrives in an environment that is pro-active and prefers a ‘hands off’ management approach where you can work independently but importantly seek support and advice when you require it.

Because of our size, we are uniquely placed to provide the opportunity to work on many different and complex matters to develop professionally and also allow the flexibility to develop skills in other areas of law as workloads may allow.

A role within our Commercial Property team will include (but not be restricted to) the following:

  • Acting for both Landlord and Tenant in all Lease related transactions
  • Acting in the sale and acquisition of commercial property
  • Drafting all manner of property related documents
  • Working with our company team on the property aspects in asset/share sales and acquisitions
  • Advising on Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 matters
  • Re-mortgaging commercial property
  • Acting for small scale developers in the acquisition of land and sale of new-build properties

Essential Skills

Candidates should ideally have at least 5 years PQE in property law and be confident in handling all aspects of associated transactions.

Ability to be confident working independently and efficiently as you will be dealing with high value and quite complex cases.

Excellent communication skills- we pride ourselves on the personal service provided to our clients and keeping them regularly updated throughout transactions.

Desirable Skills

Experience in both residential and commercial property is not essential but may be considered for someone looking for even more variety in workload and wishing to work across both departments.
