Tim Langford LLB (Hons)

Head of Residential Property Department

Tim understands that moving house can be difficult and takes a proactive approach to reduce his clients’ anxiety by efficiently handling the conveyancing process. Tim is very pleased that the firm’s high quality of service was recognised when we became one of the first practices in the country to secure membership to the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS), which is the mark of excellence for the home buying process.

Tim also has considerable experience in dealing with lease extensions for both landlords and tenants as well as acting for clients who wish to sell or purchase land for development.

Tim started his training with Wallace Robinson & Morgan in 1990, qualifying as a Solicitor in 1992. He has been a partner since 1996 and is now a director of the firm and head of the Residential Property Department.

When not at work he enjoys watching all sports and spending time with his family.

He plays league tennis at the local gym, reluctantly accepting he’s not going to be turning pro.

He enjoys live comedy by both going to gigs and being a season ticket holder at Birmingham City!

Anna Hobbs BSc (Hons), MSc

Head of Company & Commercial Property Department

Specialities: Commercial Property, Plot Sales, Business Sales and Acquisitions and Residential Property

Anna qualified as a Solicitor in August 2018 after completing her training contract with us. She is now working in our Company and Commercial Team and enjoys the varied nature of the work she undertakes. She acts for both Landlords and Tenants in the granting of commercial leases and lease assignments and can also assist clients with the sale, purchase and re-financing of commercial premises whilst also having experience in business sales and acquisitions for small to medium sized companies. Her company work includes general contract reviews, company incorporations and Partnership Agreements. Previously Anna took a leading role in setting up the busy Plot Sales team who handle the apartment sales of a number of property developments around the country and still assists in this area from time to time.

After gaining a 1st class degree in Geography, Anna went on to do an MSc in Climatology and worked for a few years in the environmental sector before setting her sights on Law, graduating from the Legal Practice Course (LPC) with a distinction. She has been at WRM full-time since October 2012, first working as Practice Management Assistant, then as a Trainee Solicitor alongside her part-time study at the University of Law and is now a Senior Associate.

Anna recently took some time off to have her second son, and now enjoys her spare time at home with family, walking and relaxing on an evening by cooking and baking. She is a keen traveller and loves doing anything creative including sewing and painting.

Kathryn Ferris LLB (Hons)

Head of Family Department

Specialities: Divorce and Separation, Civil Partnership Dissolutions, Division of Assets, Cohabitation disputes, Applications relating to children, Collaborative Family Law, Nuptial Agreements.

Kathryn is a trained Collaborative Lawyer and passionately believes that the use of this process means clients avoid acrimony giving themselves the best chance of achieving an amicable resolution. She is a member of Resolution and a former chair and active participant of the Collaborative Family Law Group West Midlands.

Kathryn is experienced in all aspects of financial disputes but has particular expertise working with mid to high net worth clients who are separating after a long marriage. These cases often involve more complex legal issues such as how pensions can be retained or used flexibly to realise capital, business interests and identification of matrimonial and non-matrimonial assets.

She also advises on matters concerning children including arrangements following separation, applications to relocate and applications by grandparents and step-parents. Should it prove necessary to involve the court then she takes a robust approach to ensure clients achieve the best possible outcome.

Kathryn qualified as a solicitor in 2000 specialising exclusively in Family Law since 2002. She is now Head of the firm’s Family Department. The most rewarding aspect of her role is helping clients move on to the new phase of their life with confidence and security.

As a working mother she has plenty to fill her time away from the office, but particularly enjoys tennis, cycling, travelling and country walks preferably with a nice pub on route.

Ruth Nolan LLB (Hons) TEP

Head of Wills and Probate Department, Dorridge

Specialities: Wills, Powers of Attorney, Administration of estates after death

Ruth is a Director and solicitor in the Wills, Probate & Trusts team. She is based at the Dorridge office but is able to see clients at the Solihull office if this is more convenient for them.

Ruth is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS). Ruth is the treasurer for the Birmingham branch of the Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE). As well as being a fully accredited member of SFE. Ruth is a full member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP). As such she adheres to the STEP will writing code, a copy of which is available at https://www.step.org/system/files/media/files/2020-02/Will_Code_2016.pdf subject to our term and conditions of acting.

Ruth Nolan qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and first joined Wallace Robinson & Morgan in 2005. She took a career break while her children were very young and re-joined the firm in January 2013.

In her free time Ruth enjoys playing singles and doubles tennis, walking her dog, spending time with the family and going on holiday.

Liam Wdowiak LLB (Hons)

Head of Wills and Probate Department, Solihull

Specialities: Administration of Estates, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney

Liam’s areas of expertise include dealing with the administration of estates, the preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Deputyship Applications.

He prides himself upon providing a friendly and professional service to his clients and is an accredited member of the Law Society's Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS). Liam joined the firm’s Private Client team in January 2017 and became an Associate Director in January 2022. Prior to this, Liam trained and qualified as a solicitor with a long established Midlands practice, where he worked for almost 10 years.

In his spare time, Liam enjoys walking his Whippet and getting on with various DIY projects around the home. He also enjoys visiting new places and is a keen fan of both football and cricket.

Andrea Evans LLB

Head of Litigation Department

Andrea has joined Wallace Robinson Morgan Solicitors as an Associate Director in the Litigation Department, based in Solihull.

Andrea has been a qualified Solicitor for over 30 years and an accredited Mediator since 2021, specialising in Civil and Property Litigation with a background in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence litigation and advisory Contract work.

She has advised private and commercial clients on such matters as boundary disputes, construction and building claims, Landlord and Tenant disputes, debts, lease reviews and Settlement Agreements.

Andrea is very much an advocate for dispute resolution and mediation believing that Court is the forum of last resort. But should negotiation not be possible or successful Andrea does have extensive experience in Court work.

When not at work Andrea sings in a community choir, attends a book club albeit not always successfully finishing reading the books but participating in a social glass of red wine to continue with discussions. She also enjoys walking in the countryside with her little border terrier and visits the seaside as much as she possibly can.

Paul Kalaher

Consultant - Dispute Resolution and Employment Law Department

Paul has been a solicitor since 1990 and a commercial mediator since 2005 and has all round litigation and employment law experience for both commercial clients and individuals concerning disputes over land, trust property, contested wills and estates, commercial debts, building disputes, ruined holidays, professional negligence, landlord and tenant issues and boundary disputes. He has conducted litigation in the House of Lords twice, the Court of Appeal on three occasions and the High Court and County Court on numerous occasions.

Outside of work Paul enjoys a quiet family life and is an armchair sport fan.

Billie Ann Samardzija

Solicitor - Senior Associate - Residential Property Department

Specialities: Residential Property

Billie Ann qualified abroad in 1996, but having moved to England, she took a career break due to family commitments and time spent upbringing children. During this time, she completed her CPE to rectify her First-Class Degree in Law. Soon thereafter, Billie Ann joined a law firm, working in residential conveyancing and building her own workload. To qualify, she completed her LPC at the University of Law in Birmingham and became a Solicitor in December 2019 whilst still working for a national law firm in Birmingham.

Billie Ann gained over 12 years of residential conveyancing experience, acting for private clients as well as some major UK developers and private investors with whom she established a great relationship in the process. As selling and buying property continue to bring a lot of stress and uncertainty, whenever she can, Billie Ann will attempt to take that stress away from clients and enable a smooth and easy completion without compromising on quality.

Billie Ann joined the firm in September 2023 as a Senior Associate in the Residential Property Department.

While Billie Ann strongly believes in hard work, she recharges her batteries with anything creative, be it in art, baking, writing, cooking, but most of all, catching up with her children, family, and friends over a homemade meal and a glass of red wine. She also enjoys walking in woodlands, doing yoga, watching a good movie, and looking forward to that tennis refresher course well overdue now. Although she has travelled a lot, she is still keen to see but a few places at some point in the future.

Julian Spence

Solicitor - Senior Associate - Commercial Property Department

Specialities: Commercial Property

Julian qualified as a solicitor in September 2003. Although originally from Nottingham, Julian spent a number of years as a commercial property solicitor at a regional firm in Berkshire. He joined the firm in January 2023 as a Senior Associate in the Commercial Property department.

He comes from a non-contentious commercial property transactional background. He has represented many different types of clients, including companies, partnerships, local authorities, universities, pension funds, small and medium-sized enterprises and high net worth individuals.

Julian represents both landlords and tenants in connection with the grant and assignment of commercial leases. He also has experience with acquisitions and disposals of both freehold and leasehold commercial property as well as secured lending where finance is required. Julian also has experience in residential lease extensions.

Julian obtained his law degree at Warwick University in 1999 before completing his LPC at the College of Law in Guildford. Julian then took a gap year before commencing his training contact at a firm in Reading in 2001.

Outside the office, Julian enjoys walking, music, golf, languages and travel.

Michelle Layton LLB (Hons)

Licensed Conveyancer - Senior Associate - Residential Property Department

Specialities: Residential Property

Michelle specialises in residential conveyancing, taking pride in her work and knows how stressful moving home can be. She does everything in her power to make the moving process as easy as possible.

Michelle is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS). Michelle qualified as a Licenced Conveyancer in 2008 and after many years’ experience in conveyancing with other legal firms in the West Midlands area, she joined Wallace Robinson & Morgan in July 2016.

Michelle enjoys sports and in particular running, and has participated in several half marathons and some full marathons. She also enjoys travelling, going to the cinema and socialising with family and friends.

Kirsten Wagner LLB (Hons)

Solicitor - Associate - Family Law Department

Kirsten joined Wallace Robinson & Morgan in October 2020 as a Trainee Solicitor assisting the Family team. She remained with the team following her qualification in November 2021, primarily assisting the Head of Department.

Kirsten graduated from De Montfort University with a degree in Law in 2015 and gained experience as a Legal Assistant in Civil Litigation at a firm in Leicester shortly after. She then completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in 2018 alongside working for a national law firm in Birmingham as an Employment Paralegal. Kirsten commenced her training at a niche corporate law firm in Dudley and has undertaken a seat in Corporate Law.

In her spare time, Kirsten enjoys cooking, going to live music events and spending time with friends and family.

Gary Sawyer BEng(Hons) MBA MBE

Solicitor - Associate - Commercial Property Department and Wills & Probate Department

Gary has been working at Wallace Robinson and Morgan since April 2019. Initially working in the plot sales team he began his training contract with the family department in January 2020 and finished his training in property, commercial, corporate and probate matters. Gary qualified as a solicitor in January 2022 and undertakes work in both the Commercial Property Department and the Wills and Probate Department specialising in probate and estate administration.

Gary’s route into the legal profession has been more protracted than most. After graduating with a mechanical engineering degree, he joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot. After 16 years as a front-line pilot flying the Tornado ground attack aircraft, he completed an MBA and moved into management consultancy, programme management and process improvement. He then decided to pursue an aspiration he had held for a while and completed a Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Birmingham.

Away from work he is an enthusiastic, if somewhat unskilled hockey player, is a keen road cyclist and tries to ski at least once a year. Legal studies have taken up much of his time over the last 2 1/2 years but he also enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Sarah Kelly LLB (Hons) LLM

Solicitor - Associate - Commercial Property Department

Specialities: Commercial and Residential Property

Sarah is an Associate Solicitor working in the Commercial Department. She deals with numerous aspects of commercial property work on a day to day basis which includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating various documents such as leases, licences, deeds and more, undertaking searches, dealing with third parties such as lenders, reporting to clients and dealing with post completion matters. She acts for both Landlord and Tenant when dealing with leases and assignments. She can also assist clients with the purchase, sale or refinancing of commercial properties.

Sarah also deals with company sales or acquisitions, whether that be by shares or assets, acting for both the buyer and seller.

Sarah also deals with all aspects of residential property work including freehold and leasehold sales, purchases, transfers, lease extensions and re-mortgages.

Sarah graduated from Coventry University with a 2:1 Law Degree and joined WRM in June 2017 as a paralegal in the Plot Sales Team. She began her training contract in September 2018 and whilst training gained experience in the Residential Property Department, the Family Department and the Commercial Property Department. Sarah achieved a Distinction in her LPC and a Maters at the University of Law in Birmingham and qualified into the Commercial Property Department in September 2020.

Outside of work Sarah enjoys spending time with her young son and partner, and enjoys socialising with friends. She also enjoys travelling and has been fortunate enough to travel to many different countries around the world experiencing varied cultures, something she wants her son to experience in the future.

Parris Ball LLB (Hons)

Solicitor - Residential Property Department

Parris started at the firm in September 2020 initially as a paralegal in our busy Plot Sales team. In January 2022, Parris began her two year training contract and spent the majority of her time in the Residential Property Department assisting Tim Langford. Alongside her training contract, Parris also completed the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law obtaining a distinction in August 2023. Prior to joining the firm, Parris graduated from The University of Law with a first class LLB Law degree in July 2020.

In January 2024, Parris qualified as a solicitor into the Residential Property Department and deals with all aspects of residential conveyancing.

Outside of work Parris enjoys going on walks with her partner and two beagles, Barney and Willow. Parris also enjoys live music and Indian food.

Josh joined Wallace Robinson & Morgan in May 2023 as a Solicitor in the Development Department. He joined after completing his training contract at a regional west London law firm.

During his training contract, he gained experience in Wills, Trusts & Probate, Landlord & Tenant, and New Build Homes.

Josh graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in History and went on to complete his Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law and Legal Practice Course LLM at Nottingham Law School.

Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the gym, and climbing the fantasy football ranks.

Ciara started at the firm in September 2020 and began her two-year Training Contract in January 2021. Before joining the firm, Ciara graduated from the University of Birmingham in July 2020 with a 2:1 LLB Law degree. Alongside her Training Contract, Ciara completed the LPC with a Masters obtaining a Distinction from the University of Law in Birmingham in August 2022. Outside of work, Ciara enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Ciara has family in both Italy and Ireland, and she loves to visit them whenever she can. Ciara also enjoys listening to music and watching as many TV series as possible.

Charlotte joined the firm in September 2022 and assists the Plot Sales Team with their work.

Charlotte graduated from the University of Sheffield with an LLB Law Degree in 2020 and gained a masters in Corporate and Commercial law from the University of Sheffield. She also completed the LPC with a distinction from the University of Law in 2022.

In her spare time she enjoys travelling and trying new food.

James joined Wallace Robinson & Morgan in April 2022 as a Paralegal in the Development Department and he began his training contract in April 2023. Before joining WRM, James graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a 2:1 in his Law Degree and achieved a Commendation in his LPC and Masters at the University of Law in Birmingham.

Outside of work, James enjoys watching and playing most sports, especially football and he is a Liverpool supporter. He plays hockey for his local club, having played for Warwickshire when he was younger, and plays golf when he can. James also enjoys spending time socialising with his friends and family.

Ollie started at Wallace Robinson & Morgan in January 2023 as a Paralegal in the Development Department. He graduated with a 2:1 in his law degree from De Montfort University in August 2022 and has since completed his Legal Practice Course and LLM in Legal Practice at De Montfort University in September 2023.

In his spare time, Ollie runs for his local running team in Nuneaton taking part in both road and cross country races. He supports Chelsea FC and goes to the games when he can. Outside of this, Ollie enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Sophia Kenna

Sophia started at Wallace Robinson & Morgan in April 2022 as a Paralegal in our Wills and Probate department. She started her two-year training contract in April 2023 and is now a Trainee Solicitor within our Commercial department.

Sophia graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2.1 Philosophy degree in July 2020. She then completed the GDL at the University of Law in July 2021 and has achieved a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course. Sophia has a passion for the industry and is working towards becoming a qualified solicitor at the firm.

Laura Owen

Senior Paralegal - Commercial Property Department

Laura joined Wallace Robinson and Morgan in February 2018 as a property paralegal in the plot sales team and is now a Senior Paralegal in the Commercial Property department, working on a number of large property developments around the country. Prior to joining the firm she worked at a national firm in Birmingham for over 11 years. Her experience includes plot sales and working in the Company Secretarial Team within the corporate department where she provided a comprehensive Company Secretarial Service to private companies.

Outside work Laura enjoys socialising with friends and spending as much time possible with her family. Laura loves to spend her days off shopping and eating out.

Kateryna Knyazyeva LLM

Paralegal - Commercial Property Department

Kateryna started at Wallace Robinson & Morgan in September 2022. She came to the UK from Ukraine due to the war, with the view to retrain as a solicitor in the UK. Kateryna graduated with a distinction from the University of Hertfordshire in January 2011 and has a LLM degree in International Commercial Law.

In Ukraine Kateryna was an experienced Legal Director with an established history of working in an industrial engineering company.

At Wallace Robinson & Morgan, Kateryna is training in property, commercial, corporate and probate matters and is hoping to qualify as a solicitor as soon as possible.

Outside of work Kateryna enjoys spending time with her family, reading, travelling around the UK sightseeing, as well as supporting Ukraine on social media.

Heidi Ryder

Senior Paralegal - Residential Conveyancing Department

Heidi started at Wallace Robinson in 2004 as a Legal Secretary and is now a Senior Paralegal within the Residential Property Department.

She gained considerable experience and knowledge in supporting the Residential Property team as a Legal Secretary. As she was keen to develop her career in conveyancing, Heidi started her training to become a Legal Executive in 2015. She is currently working towards the Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), and will then complete her studies with the Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law & Practice.

She provides assistance to the Conveyancing department and manages a freehold portfolio of sales.

Heidi enjoys keeping fit and goes to the gym. She enjoys socialising and taking part in various activities.

Amun Sunner

Paralegal - Family & Dispute Resolution Departments

Amun started at Wallace Robinson and Morgan in March 2022 as a Paralegal in our Wills and Probate Team.

Amun graduated from Aston University with a 2:1 in LLB Law with Management in 2021. She has completed her LPC with the University of Law, and is looking to eventually qualify as a solicitor with the firm.

Outside of work Amun enjoys socialising with her friends and family as well as keeping fit and going to the gym .

Amun has various experience including a 2-week internship at a national law firm, where she worked in the conveyancing department, an internship in the finance sector and also enjoys helping out in her family’s property business.

Previously, she worked as a bank litigation lawyer and construction contract manager in France.

Christine Hughes

Assistant Cashier

Having been a French teacher for many years previously, Christine decided to retire from languages to try her hand at numbers. She has now been a valued member of WRM’s cashiers team for over ten years. As well as having an eagle eye with figures she is also known for being the office’s most prolific tea drinker and makes a mean brew.

A little more about Christine…

Christine leads a busy life outside of work, regularly swimming, walking her dog and trying to keep up with the lives of her four children. As a devoted Geordie she is also loathe to admit she is a supporter of Sunderland Football club.

Mike has been working as a legal cashier for over 30 years. Previous to working for Wallace Robinson & Morgan, he worked for a law firm in Birmingham City Centre.

Joanne Kitching

Cashier

Joanne has worked as a legal cashier since leaving school. She worked for 2 large law firms in Birmingham City Centre until 2004. She joined Wallace Robinson & Morgan in 2018.

Joanne has done lots of charity work for the PTA at her sons’ old primary school. She has taken part in various charity runs over the years, including the muddy obstacle ones! She loves spending quality time with her family and friends and visiting new places.

Silviia Kalinina-Paluba

Practice Support Manager

For many years Silviia worked in tourism and ran a family business in Ukraine. She with her family arrived in the UK in April 2022 and joined the firm in September 2022 as Practice Support Manager.

As being a passionate traveller, Silviia grabs every opportunity to visit new places with her husband and her son Serhii. Silviia also likes hiking, watching films and reading.

Rebecca Taylor

Practice Administrator

Becky joined the firm in October 2009 as a Practice Administrator. She is very efficient & well organised and is a valuable member of the firm assisting all departments with day to day tasks.

In Becky’s spare time she enjoys going on cruises travelling the world learning about different cultures and tasting the local food with her son Jack. Becky also enjoys films, reading and socialising with her friends and family.

Front of House Receptionist

Lisa joined the firm in June 2017 as our front of house receptionist. She is the first port of call for all enquires and helps put clients at ease. Lisa has previous experience as an Accounts Cashier working for two other local Solicitors.

Susan Dutton

Sue has recently joined WRM having gained much experience over the years working within local law firms. She has joined the team at our Dorridge Office where you will find her front of house. Sue is also assisting Ruth Nolan in the Wills and Probate Department.

Outside office hours Sue enjoys reading, countryside walks and dog training.

Aimee Hopkins

Legal Secretary - Residential Conveyancing Department and Administration Assistant

Aimee joined WRM as an administration/receptionist apprentice in August 2014 and has since gained a level 3 diploma in business & administration and developed her ICT skills. Within her varied role, Aimee has gained some knowledge within the conveyancing department where she assists in uploading documents to the Land Registry as well as producing documents from Dictaphone.

In her spare time, Aimee enjoys spending time with her friends and family and attending Zumba classes. She also enjoys listening to music and travelling.

Karen Ramsey

Karen has 22 years’ experience working as a legal secretary. Karen joined WRM in 2010 working for the Dispute Resolution and Employment team. Outside work Karen is a keen tennis player and has recently taken up dressmaking.

Legal Secretary - Family Law Department

Sharon works for Kathryn Ferris and Kirsten Wagner in the Family Department and has been a legal secretary since she left school having worked in most areas of law including Property, Licensing, Litigation, Corporate, but Family is where she is happiest.

Sharon enjoys walking her dog, Bruce, along the towpaths of the Stratford canal where her narrowboat is moored.
