It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Paul Hughes on August 3rd 2023. Paul was an exceptional legal professional who dedicated his life to serving the needs of businesses and individuals alike. His impact extended widely, touching the lives of many within the legal community and beyond.

Paul’s Professional Legacy

Paul’s legal journey began at Birmingham University, where he honed his passion for law. In 1984, he joined Wallace Robinson & Morgan, quickly rising to become a partner in 1986. With a remarkable career spanning several decades, Paul specialised in a wide array of company and commercial services, including Commercial Property, Business Sales and Acquisitions, and Commercial Contracts. He also advised on Residential Property matters as well as Wills and Probate. His expertise was marked by a deep commitment to his clients, fostering enduring relationships that lasted for decades.

A Champion of Small Businesses and Beyond

Paul’s impact reached far beyond his legal practice. He served as a legal advisor to a nationwide member organisation championing the interests of small businesses. Additionally, he lent his expertise to a prominent motor dealer, offering guidance that proved invaluable. A Life of Community Service

Paul’s commitment extended to his community, where he left an indelible mark. For almost two decades, he served as a Governor at a school in Dorridge, actively contributing to the education and growth of the younger generation. As the chairman of the Family Care Trust, a local charity focused on supporting individuals with mental illness and learning difficulties, Paul’s compassionate spirit shone brightly. The trust’s day care, community support, and farm at Catherine-de-Barnes are enduring testaments to his dedication.

A Love for Sports and Adventure

Beyond his professional and philanthropic pursuits, Paul’s zest for life was evident in his interests. A seasoned football referee for a quarter of a century, he eventually turned his focus to supporting his beloved Stoke City as a dedicated season ticket holder. His love for travel led him to explore distant lands, with recent journeys to Australia and New Zealand capturing his adventurous spirit. Closer to home, he cherished moments with his family in Devon and maintained a regular gym routine.

A Farewell to a Remarkable Soul

As we bid farewell to Paul, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind – a legacy of dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment. His impact on the legal profession, the community, and the lives he touched will forever be remembered and cherished.
